New Starts

I'm starting this blog as a way to document Tyler and I's adventures as new parents and to keep all of our friends and family updated on Adelaide as she grows. From the beginning of my pregnancy Adelaide has shown that she is very unique and likes to show us this in different ways. To start we found out we were pregnant just 4 days after closing on our first home. Although me being pregnant was not a complete surprise it still sort of shocked us. Then at 16 weeks we discovered that Adelaide had a congenital amputation of her left lower forearm and hand. This happens in about 1 in 20,000 births. Then at 37 weeks we discovered that she was frank breech. Breech babies are about 3-5% of all births. Once again she met another rare statistic. The day that we were supposed to try and flip her over I started having contractions and she didn't take them very well so we decided to go ahead and do a C-section. Her umbilical cord was short and the chances are she would have never turned anyway. Since her birth Addy has continued to amaze us. She's a wonderfully content baby and growing like a weed. She's incredibly strong and loves tummy time and getting her long fuzzy dark hair washed. Tyler and I have taken to parenting well I think. We've always worked well together. We've already had a few humorous moments including one involving projectile poop which I didn't even know existed before I saw it. I swear, I don't know what parents did without the internet, I had to look it up because I thought there was something wrong with her!!  Anyway, hopefully I can keep up with this blog so that everyone can see Addy grow and thrive. I'm sure there will be many funny stories along the way.
